Hi, I'm Kelly! This was my adopted Pitbull-type dog, Ollie. Ollie was picked up off the streets of Detroit, an emaciated mess. From the second I met her, I knew she was special. I didn't know at the time just how special. Formerly named Olympia by shelter staff, this beautiful soul has stolen countless hearts and changed the minds of many "pitbull" fearing people. She is the motivation and the inspiration behind Olympia Dog Training and the reason why I am able to help so many families and dogs.

From a very young age, I knew I wanted a career helping animals. After graduating from Oakland University with a degree in Journalism, I immediately began working in Animal Welfare at the Michigan Humane Society in Rochester Hills. After several emotional years of working with the neglected, misunderstood, and thrown away animals of my community, I sought a different path. I still wanted to save lives. I still wanted to help people complete their families, just in a different way.

According to the ASPCA’s National Rehoming Survey, “pet problems are the most common reason that owners rehome their pets, accounting for 47% of rehomed dogs.”

I decided, what better way to make a change in my community than to help people ENJOY their pets again? To try and help lower the number of shelter animals by educating people on responsible pet ownership and teaching owners how to be the leader their dogs need. By helping owners restructure and strengthen their relationship with their dogs, I strive to keep preventable and treatable behavior issues from landing dogs in shelters.

I now share my business with a couple of new "employees," who you will see hanging around! Tallulah, "Tully" the GSD puppy and my Ollie lookalike rescue pocket pittie, Nellie. With these two by my side, I want to continue to open minds to the benefits of balanced training, and show the world what can be achieved with a structured, balanced lifestyle and responsible pet ownership.
